About the artist. Azlina was an educator. She loves to impart knowledge to others and at the same time learning from them. Then, she quit teaching formally after 3 kids and went into cake business. Her last wedding cake in 2017. However, things went a little different than she planned. Life starts at 40. Her health deteriorated quite bad after she turned 40. Her life plans made a U-turn. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, Rheumatoid Arthritis  , in 2017. Her world crumbled. Her cake business ended abruptly. Doctors & hospital visits became her routine. She was overwhelmed with what life has to offer. Slowly, she began to accept what God has gifted her. And in late 2018, she started painting to calm her mind and heart. Its an organisation in US empowering the chronically ill people. I submitted at the very last minute & didn't think much about it. But Alhamdulillah, they liked my art works. People ask me what does LukLuk means. Its an arabic word from the Quran which means Pearls of paradise. When I started this journey, the word LukLuk just keep coming to my mind. At that point I was just switching from ElynaCakes to ElynaDraws. But I didn't want to hold on to something from the past. I was still hurting 🤪. That this disease actually took away my baking passion. 🎂🍰🥧And I was still struggling to see the light out of all these hardships. But I tried to internalise God's promise, that He won't take something from you and not replace with something better. And so I chose LukLuk....telling myself everyday..that Allah is giving me something better. It takes time and space to allow yourself to change and grow. And I allowed myself to just do that.
